Nearly 300 were in attendance at the inaugural Football 101 event for Komen Ozark on Thursday, July 31st at the Fred W. Smith Football Complex in Fayetteville. The event was hosted by Coach Bret Bielema and the football coaching staff and raised over $23,000 to support the Komen mission.
The evening was kicked off with a social hour as Coach Bielema welcomed guests and introduced the coaching staff and their wives before the facility tour. Three tour groups spent 30 minutes in the locker room, weight room and the player’s meeting room. Guests were greeted by the smiling faces of some of the players and training staff to learn first-hand how to get in the best shape and mindset for game day.
Ladies were also treated to learning the x’s and o’s from both Coach Bielema and the assistant coaches. Guests rounded out the tour with stops in the players’ lounge, training facilities and the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
Over 25 Survivors joined the festivities and were treated to pink football mums courtesy of NWA Florist.
“We are grateful to Coach Bielema, the coaches, staff and the University of Arkansas for hosting this event,” states Mary Alfrey, Executive Director of Komen Ozark. “It is through their support we are able to raise awareness and funds in our mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.”
The event was so much fun and we can’t wait for you to join us next year!
